So here’s a little story… I built a website for a friend of mine a few years back. We were in the proses of handing the torch over to another mutual friend of ours to continue working on it, but that required me remembering the user name and password to get into the admin panel for the content management system. It had been a while since I last used it, and yep, I forgot it… good thing esteemed Freeskier Magazine editor Matt Harvey was in town to bail me out… Before Matt got the bright idea that he should be editing magazines, he was a programmer. Here’s his email to me detailing what he had to do to get a new password set up… fucking guy.

Ah… mid July. While the population at large is busy sunning themselves on a beach, (or in the case of Boulder, Colorado) next to a creek, I find myself sitting in a super-refrigerated office trying to assemble nearly 400 ski related products and reviews into a coherent buyer’s guide for FREESKIER Magazine. While I toil with ski test intro spreads (and updating this blog), Harvey and Shay do stupid stuff like jogging in 90 degree heat.

I’m to lazy to look and see what percentage of posts Harvey is included in in my new little blog venture, but I know its way to fucking many.

I came back from lunch today, I’d left my checkbook sitting on my desk, and whadayah know… Harvey decided to write himself a check out of my checkbook as my going away present to himself.

I dunno why he made it out for 5,000 dollars. I would have made it out for way more. Maybe he’s trying to tell me he thinks I’m to poor or something, like my check would bounce, cause I haven’t sold any stupid skiing websites recently, or not so recently. Whatever, eat me. Your Ferrari is gay. At least now all five people that read this blog will finally see what a hoser you really are!

Welp, its been a year to the date since Matt Harvey shot this photo of me at Wolf Creek Ski Resort in southern Colorado… I’m pretty sure it’s the only picture of me actually skiing that’s been taken in the last ten years. (Pats self on back again) I’m celebrating the anniversary by sitting in an office with no windows. Good times.

I think Joystick should probably sign me for six figures. Look at that exposure. Say something.

Dear Freeskier Magazine, It’s been fun. Real Fun. Volume 11 is almost done. Granted now that I’m claiming this the server will inevitably catch on fire and we’ll loose the last issue before it goes out the door this afternoon.

Despite the fact that I shared an office with a flaming Canadian who’s more interested in 1337 translators and vintage synthesizers than providing me pages to design (jay kaaay!), and the reality that I’ve had to work ungodly hours, often times sleeping on a hard couch from target in a fridged confrence room (ehrm.. “The Target Lounge”), I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’d go so far as to say I’m looking forward to doing it again next season.
