Stumpy Returns

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

So apparently Greg Stump has come out of hiding to release another movie, this aught to be interesting. I’m always into skiing history, and by the looks of his teaser he’s got the whole gang back together for a nice little retrospective on the history of ski film making. Nimbusindependent.com Launch

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

It’s been a long time coming… a month or so to be exact. Nimbusindependent.com is live. I started the design phase for this website in conjunction with BNQT.com while in japan, traveling and shooting photos with the Nimbus Crew for their first webisode of the season En Route: Japan. And its the main reason why I haven’t been updating my own blog recently.

Nimbusindependent.com has come along way in a short time since then, thanks in no small part to the tireless efforts of their brilliant and dedicated programmers Derek and Alan. Check out the fruits of everyone’s labor, En Route Japan, shown here in three chunks. if you head to the site you can download the webisode in its entirty in full 1280 x 720 High Definition or iPod versions.

Ski Buming Was Never Not Cool

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Everyone’s best friend Jason Woolf decided enough was enough. Jason used to run his own winter sports distributorship down in New Zealand, slinging such brands as Armada Skis, Joystick Poles, Pow Gloves and Leedom helmets, but the business life took its toll… even though it centered around the sport he loved.

Anyone who mixes work and fun on a daily basis will tell you that it quickly turns into a 24 hour a day endeavor, sometimes you just have to put your foot down on the breaks and take a step back. And that’s exactly what Jason did… he basically walked away from everything and is now trotting the globe skiing and enjoying himself in good old ski bum fashion. He’s currently laughing histerically in La Plange, France, filming himself skiing lines and living the good life… check it out. I’m jealous.

One year later

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Welp, its been a year to the date since Matt Harvey shot this photo of me at Wolf Creek Ski Resort in southern Colorado… I’m pretty sure it’s the only picture of me actually skiing that’s been taken in the last ten years. (Pats self on back again) I’m celebrating the anniversary by sitting in an office with no windows. Good times.

I think Joystick should probably sign me for six figures. Look at that exposure. Say something.

So long and thanks for all the sleepless nights

Dear Freeskier Magazine, It’s been fun. Real Fun. Volume 11 is almost done. Granted now that I’m claiming this the server will inevitably catch on fire and we’ll loose the last issue before it goes out the door this afternoon.

Despite the fact that I shared an office with a flaming Canadian who’s more interested in 1337 translators and vintage synthesizers than providing me pages to design (jay kaaay!), and the reality that I’ve had to work ungodly hours, often times sleeping on a hard couch from target in a fridged confrence room (ehrm.. “The Target Lounge”), I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’d go so far as to say I’m looking forward to doing it again next season.
